Sun and planet tooth thickness directly affect backlash, but so do ring gear geometry and center distance.
Support accuracy
Bearing, carrier and housing runout can move the mesh and change tooth contact around the rotation.
Tooth modifications
Profile or lead modifications may be used in designed systems; they should be reproduced only from controlled data.
Use the drawing as the controlled record
A technical guide can explain which variables matter, but the final sun gear must be approved from the actual drawing and operating requirement.
If a value is missing, identify it for confirmation instead of copying a dimension or material from a different supplier or gear family.
