Sun Gears for Renewable Energy Drives
Planetary stages in renewable-energy equipment can combine long service expectations with variable torque. The RFQ should state life and duty rather than only nominal power.

Application-specific RFQ checklist
| Parameter | Hva som skal spesifiseres |
|---|---|
| Duty data | Torque spectrum, speed, cycles, target service life and temperature range. |
| Geometry | Planetary tooth relationship and load-sharing assumptions. |
| Interface | Spline or shaft connection, bearing seats, lubrication path and assembly datum. |
| Risk point | Long service expectations increase the importance of tooth contact and documented inspection. |
Confirm the whole planetary interface
Energy applications often make fatigue life, contact pattern, material condition and documented inspection more important than a simple nominal torque comparison.
Where design data are incomplete, provide the complete tooth-count set, number of planets, operating speed range and any existing inspection or material records from the original assembly.

Long-life planetary stage considerations
Stage location, load spectrum, service life and inspection documentation deserve clear definition before manufacturing scope is frozen.
For a new design, define the sun/planet/ring tooth relationship before finalizing the center interface. For replacement work, inspect the planets, ring, carrier support and lubrication condition so a new sun gear is not installed into an already damaged stage.
Use the application to decide which measurements deserve the most attention: peak torque and shock for heavy equipment, backlash and runout for motion systems, or life and documentation for long-duration duty.
