Concentricity & runout
Define the datum relationship among gear teeth, bore/spline/shaft and bearing seats.
Duty
Rated and peak torque, speed, reversals, shock and life influence material/process decisions.
Inspection
Agree the report content before production when tooth or interface verification is critical.
Replacement and custom projects
Drawing-based sun gears for new designs and replacements requiring custom tooth geometry, interfaces, material, heat treatment or inspection.
For custom or legacy sun gears, submit the controlled drawing or a complete measured definition of tooth geometry and mechanical interface. Photos and markings can support identification but do not replace the drawing.
Custom does not mean undefined
A quote-ready custom gear still needs a controlled tooth system, interface, material/process scope, duty and inspection plan. Unknowns should be marked for review rather than silently assumed.
For custom sun gears, separate confirmed drawing values from open design items before manufacturing review. That makes it possible to plan tooling and inspection around the actual geometry instead of a collection of assumptions.
Use application data only where the drawing leaves a genuine decision open. The approved revision should carry the final material, heat-treatment, finish and acceptance requirements into prototype and repeat orders.
