Concentricity & runout
Define the datum relationship among gear teeth, bore/spline/shaft and bearing seats.
Duty
Rated and peak torque, speed, reversals, shock and life influence material/process decisions.
Inspection
Agree the report content before production when tooth or interface verification is critical.
Replacement and custom projects
External sun gears for planetary transmissions, quoted from the tooth system, mating gear geometry and bore/interface drawing.
For replacement standard sun gears, confirm the tooth system and mating planet/ring geometry before using outside diameter as a selection reference. Photos help identify the layout, but measured tooth data control the part.
